Washington Irving did a masterful job writing about George Washington. During my reading I was greatly annoyed at hardly any dates being put into the biography especially during the Revolutionary War. He would write a date like 19 Jul but without the year. Or he would write the date fully as in 19 Apr 1775 and you would not see another date for several chapters. All it did was cause confusion instead of clarity. Great reading but if you need to know dates, find another historian.What good is a history of George Washington without dates?This could have been a true masterpiece, but for that oversight.
